Dr. Samuel Canine is the former Chairman and Professor of Pastoral Ministries at Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas, where he served for several decades. Dr. Canine received his B.A. at Cedarville College, a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University.

Beginning in 1985, Dr. Canine became a bedrock for Pastoral ministries at Dallas Theological Seminary where he influenced hundreds of future pastors through his expertise in homiletics and Christian Education. Prior to his work at D.T.S., Dr. Canine served on the faculties of Fort Wayne Bible College (1975) and the Moody Bible Institute (1977–1985). At Moody, Dr. Canine was a professor in Pastoral Training before his promotion to Chairman of the Department of Evangelism. He remained as an active visiting faculty member with Moody from 1987 until the turn of the 21st century through Moody’s extension program, the classes he taught, and the various presentations he made at the school’s annual Pastors Conference. In the 1990’s, Dr. Canine was a visiting faculty member at Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary and Grace Theological Seminary. Internationally, his lectures through Moody Radio Network’s “The Radio School of the Bible” have reached believers across the globe.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Canine is an ordained Baptist minister who has served as a pastor, assistant pastor, and an interim pastor in several churches in Ohio, Indiana, and Texas since the mid-1960s. He is currently the Associate Pastor of Education at Memorial Baptist Church in Kileen, TX. He has been a consultant to Zondervan Publishing House in homiletics and in 1996 was the Cofounder and Codirector of cSc Communications Specialist. He has also been an honorary Bible teacher at the Moody Keswick Conference in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dr. Canine’s has been active in various associations and is a member of both The International Communication Association and Christians for Biblical Equality.

Dr. Canine has been consulted for several periodicals. Among his own publications are Leadership Handbooks of Practical Theology, Handbook on Christian Families, and Toward a Harmony of Faith and Learning. His most widely acclaimed work is Communication and Conflict Management in Churches and Christian Organizations, a book he coauthored with his colleague Dr. Kenneth Gangel.
