Dr. Garth Rosell is the Professor of Church History and Director Emeritus of the Ockenga Institute at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, MA, where he has been on the faculty since 1978. He received his B.A. from Wheaton College, a M.Div. and Th.M. from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. He has done graduate work at Fuller Seminary and the University of Edinburgh in Scotland along with sabbatical studies at Oxford and Cambridge.

Dr. Rosell’s immense impact at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary has been felt in his teaching, administrating, and writing. Widely regarded as one of the finest church historians in Christianity, three of his courses have been voted as “Course of the Year,” and he has been named “Professor Who Has Had the Greatest Impact on Our Lives” multiple times. He served for 9 years as the Academic Dean of Gordon-Conwell where he helped to launch various programs and initiatives, including securing regional accreditation for the Seminary; and for 17 years as the Director of the Ockenga Institute, helping to mold and shape future leaders. Before coming to Gordon-Conwell, Dr. Rosell taught church history at Bethel Theological Seminary for 8 years. During the past 3 decades, he has lectured and taught at various college campuses and seminaries across the United States while becoming one of the most sought after evangelical scholars.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Rosell is a member of numerous professional societies, has served on a number of boards and committees, and was a founding member of the In Trust magazine Editorial Council. Ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA), Dr. Rosell has ministered in local congregations and volunteered on denominational committees while pastoring various churches throughout the years. He served on multiple community and philanthropic boards in the Boston area and has chaired numerous accreditation teams for the Association of Theological Seminaries (ATS). During his time at Princeton Theological Seminary, he was the Director of Counseling and Follow-Up for the Billy Graham Pavilion at the New York World’s Fair.
