General Information
You can continue learning with our optional Certificate Programs! You will benefit from a directed approach to your study, but at your own pace and on your own time schedule. You can learn anytime, from anywhere, and store your course records in our system. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a validated Certificate of Completion that is honored by several continuing education associations and educational institutions. It is recommended that you consider our Certificate Programs before enrolling in any course.

Our students fall into two categories and our course catalog is organized according to these needs:
- Non-Certificate Courses – Students taking courses for personal study and enrichment. These courses do not qualify for continuing education or academic credit, do not include a formal assessment of your study, and do not include a Final Exam or a Certificate of Completion. They are designated as Non-Certificate Program Courses in our course catalog and the courses are free of charge. If you are taking the course for continuing education credit or any other type of formal or non-formal certification, you will need to register for our Certificate Program Courses in our course catalog (see description below).
- Certificate Program Courses – Students taking courses for formal or non-formal certification purposes (enrollment fee required)These courses are for those seeking continuing education and requiring a Certificate of Completion as evidence of the satisfactory completion of all course requirements. The courses are designated as Certificate Courses in our course catalog and an enrollment fee is required. Information on the fee structure is further explained in this document.
Please contact your certifying association or academic institution for their course requirements before registering for any Certificate Program Courses.
NOTE: If you are interested in applying your studies toward a formal academic track or degree program with us, you will find more information at our companion website, Christian University GlobalNet (www.cugn.org). Please contact our admissions office before registering for your course. You may reach us at: CUGNadmissions@rbc.org
Course Credits and Fee Structure
While we are not a certifying association, several educational institutions, continuing education associations, and churches use our courses in their education and training programs. For those groups, a formal validation of the study program is required, along with a printed certificate of completion.
Course Completion (CC) Credits Upon successful completion of our Certificate Program courses, the student is awarded a Certificate of Completion, along with a designated number of Course Completion (CC) credits for that course. We use the term CC Credit as our own nomenclature for course credits in order to reduce confusion with other formal academic and certification systems. The CC credits are noted on the Certificate of Completion. The Certificate of Completion is automatically generated by our system once all of the study requirements are met and validated by our course facilitator. For those teachers seeking continuing education credit through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), please note that each Course Completion (CC) credit equates to one CE unit for the ACSI.
Fee Structure The charge for Certificate Program courses is $20.00 per CEU credit ($40 total charge for most courses). This charge will ONLY apply if the student is taking the course for certificate credit. The courses at ChristianCourses.com are free for students who do not need the continuing education or academic credit and do not require a formal, printed certificate.
Course Completion Certificates
Individual course completion certificates are available as noted in the Course Catalog. The Certificate of Completion is automatically generated by our system once all of the study requirements are met and validated by our course facilitator, and upon the successful completion of the Final Exam with a grade of 70% or higher. The student may present the certificate to their academic institution or continuing education association as evidence of the satisfactory completion of the course.
Note to the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) Teachers: Please follow the following link to more information on your certification requirements. Please direct your questions to the ACSI.
Institute of Theological Studies (ITS)
History of the ITS: Launched in 1970 in collaboration with leading evangelical seminaries, the ITS was founded to address the need for reliable, flexible, and accessible distance theological education resources for pastoral and ministry training. ITS courses feature some of the brightest Christian minds, allowing people of all walks of life to benefit from an education once only available to a select few.
Background Information: The Institute of Theological Studies (ITS) was acquired by RBC Ministries in 2009. ITS courses are designated as 300 – 500 level courses in the ChristianCourses.com catalog. However, the ITS courses do NOT qualify for continuing education credit, as they are used only in our formal academic programs through our affiliated website, Christian University GlobalNet (CUGN) (www.cugn.org). If you are interested in any of the 300 – 500 level courses, you will need to pursue a formal academic application through CUGN. However, the courses are available for download or purchase on disc if you are interested in studying only for your personal enrichment. See the course listing at www.christiancourses.com.
Quizzes and Final Exams
The Final Exam is a comprehensive evaluation of your understanding of all lessons in a course. The exam is timed and will be graded immediately after completion. You will have forty-five (45) minutes to complete the test. The exam questions are randomly generated with each exam attempt.
Your final course grade is based upon your quiz scores and your final exam score (see below). You should score 70% or higher as your final grade for satisfactory completion of the course and for certification purposes. When you complete the Final Exam, you will have completed the course.
Caution: You are allowed only TWO attempts at the final exam. Each quiz and final exam score is recorded and the average of your quizzes and final exam is used for your course grade and for certification purposes. If you are taking the course for personal enrichment only, the quiz and final exam grades are recorded only for your interest.
Your course grade is weighted as follows:
- Quiz Average Score: 40% of Final Grade
- Final Exam Average Score: 60% of Final Grade
Testing Results and Course Records
Once you have successfully passed an exam and had your course study requirements validated by the course facilitator, you may access and print your Certificate of Completion. It is important that you immediately print the Certificate of Completion after you have successfully passed all requirements for the course. Course records and certificates are available only during the 180 day enrollment period for the course.
Formal Accreditation
Our certificate programs are not directly accredited by any regional accrediting association or certification association. However, the Course Completion (CC) credits are awarded equivalency credit toward continuing education and academic programs in some formal study programs. Please direct all accreditation questions to the respective association and not to ChristianCourses.com unless you are enrolled in our affiliated academic programs at Christian University GlobalNet .
